About the Rhode Island Medical Journal

For nearly a century, the Rhode Island Medical Society has published a journal for the physicians of the state. Most recently called Medicine and Health/Rhode Island, the title reverted to an earlier name, the Rhode Island Medical Journal (RIMJ), in 2013, and changed to an online-only, freely accessible publication.

Continuing a proud tradition, the independent, peer-reviewed Journal publishes original medical and scientific articles, commentary, Images in Medicine, case reports, and clinical reviews. In addition, each issue seeks to inform and strengthen the Rhode Island healthcare community by reporting on newsmakers, trends and issues shaping medicine and health care in the state.

Through a comprehensive distribution network, RIMJ is sent to a diverse audience of healthcare professionals, including academic, general and subspecialty physicians and clinicians, hospitalists, residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, researchers, educators, universities, institutions, organizations and others. The Rhode Island Department of Health issues monthly Vital Statistics and Health by the Numbers in each issue of the Journal.

The publication is indexed in Index Medicus, PubMed and MEDLINE. The Journal, including all advertising, is displayed and archived on the RIMS website.
